The most wonderful new CD has just been issued called “Jim Reeves: A New Way,” and believe me, it IS new. It contains 15 new overdubs and the sound is SPECTACULAR. It will take your breath away! In fact, Jim never sounded better. His voice is so rich and clear, it’s as if he just recorded this album today. The CD contains well known favorites as well as more obscure material you may not have heard. We worked primarily with “voice isolation” tracks and, with the help of some big-league pro musicians, arrangers and engineers, from America and Europe, built new instrumentation around him to showcase Jim’s timeless voice in more contemporary settings to give these songs a fresh appeal. THERE'S EVEN A NEW DUET featuring a wonderful (and attractive blonde) singer! This new CD really is something unique that you’ll want to acquire. It is frankly tiresome and very bewildering to see so many obscure labels around the world repeatedly issuing the same handful of time worn tracks on Jim, many of them of very poor quality. Shame on them! This great artist deserves better than that! So our CD is something sparkling and oh-so-enjoyable. It’s a treat for the ears, and the senses. An EXCITING new CD has been released called “JIM REEVES: THE LOST RECORDINGS,” and it has 32 performances by Jim you have never heard before! Included are live versions of “A Beautiful Life” and “The Flowers, The Sunset, The Trees”..something that has never been available until now. Also enjoy Reeves doing new songs — “I Can't Help It If I’m Still In Love With You,” “My World Ended Today” and “Unfaithful One.” The sound quality is SUPERB. You can hear Jim’s beautifully rich voice and every detail of the performances, including some fantastic accompaniment. It is truly historic and NOBODY else has these songs on CD, so it's a world premier. Richard Moore, one of the foremost engineers who does major label work, has done the restoration and mastering on this CD and it is simply incredible! As the anniversary of Jim's passing approaches July 31st, radio stations worldwide continue to play selections from the unique 8-CD set, “The Great Jim Reeves,” that features 170+ tracks, including 92 new overdubs and absolutely STUNNING sound quality. This is indisputably the BEST Jim Reeves release since the Bear 16 CD set issued over 20 years ago.

(Incidentally, Bear's marketing efforts regarding that old, overpriced $400 box set are MISLEADING. They state: “This is the complete career retrospective. Complete!...All the singles, all the albums, all the unissued titles we could find...and all other demo recordings.” This has been proven WRONG time and time again by what my label, VoiceMasters, has released — including many NEW songs by Jim that Bear does not have.)

Anyway, “The Great Jim Reeves” 8 CD set is bargain priced at only $49.95. That's about 23 cents per song...far less than a digital download. Jim's voice has been remastered for the best clarity and richness you have ever heard, then combined with tasteful new instrumentation by current members of the Grand Ole Opry band, Atlanta jazz musicians, folks from the Southern Gospel field and Europe.

The packaging is unique, and includes a 48 page full color booklet. Here is just a PARTIAL list of the feedback we have received from radio stations around the world who are playing “The Great Jim Reeves.” Order it today at: www.greatjimreeves.com

World famous singer Daniel O'Donnell appears in a new TV commercial promoting "The Great Jim Reeves" 8 CD set that I produced this past summer. He and his beautiful singing partner, Mary Duff, are fans of Jim’s and often do his songs. In fact, in 2004, Daniel did a 90-minute tribute to Reeves that was telecast live from Branson, Missouri on PBS (public television) stations nationwide, and seen by 60 million viewers! He and Mary tour internationally and sell out venues ranging from the Sydney Opera House in Australia to Carnegie Hall in New York, to dates all over Europe and even Sri Lanka. In this sense, Daniel is very much like Jim Reeves in terms of his global popularity. He does not try to sound like Jim -- he merely pays tribute to his artistry. He also is a gentleman and honors his fans the way Jim Reeves did. I had the pleasure of spending some time with Daniel and Mary this summer and he pledged his support to helping promote the new 8 CD set, which features 170+ tracks, 92 of them in new musical settings, along with a 48-page booklet that my daughter Sara helped me write. Mr. O’Donnell was true to his word, and did a big article for the Sunday World, a major newspaper in Ireland, in which he talked about this set and also my book. And he and Mary recently taped a series of commercials which will air in the EU and also be seen on the world wide web. It's a great honor to have such wonderful stars express their support for this very unique set!
I am pleased to announce the debut of a wonderful new 8 CD set commemorating the 50th anniversary year of Jim's passing. “THE GREAT JIM REEVES” has 170 tracks (including 92 overdubs). Even if you have bought every VoiceMasters and/or H&H release before, this set still offers 42 NEW overdubs of RCA masters you have never heard before. Reeves' magnificent voice has been isolated from the original backings, remastered for greater clarity, then combined with tasteful new accompaniment, including by current members of the Grand Ole Opry band! It sounds like Jim just recorded these today! I also wrote an exclusive 48-page (almost 18,000-word!) booklet (with my daughter Sara) about the “Songs & Recordings.” It features notes on each song plus rare photos that have never appeared anywhere before. It comes in a beautiful, silver-trimmed case with each of the CDs organized according to theme (Early Days, Gospel, Nashville Sound, Pop, Christmas, etc.) You get all this for only $49.95. Anita, a Grammy Award winner, has also worked with a Who's Who in the music industry, backing many stars including Perry Como, Rosemary Clooney, Roy Orbison, Bobby Vinton, Al Hirt, Ann-Margaret and such diverse people as the Smothers Brothers (on their TV show), and poet Rod McKuen. Anita also received an ASCAP award citing her for being "a lady of class...and a first-class musician" and saluting her for "her significant contributions to the birth and development of the Nashville Sound."

In her letter, Anita mentioned she had been ill the latter half of 2012 but said "the good news I am still alive and finally beginning to feel fully recovered from the health problems." I'm very glad to hear that.

During her recuperation she'd read my book, "Jim Reeves: His Untold Story," and commiserated with me about some of the more ludicrous personal attacks on me by a couple of fans who have accused me of destroying Jim's "image." Anita, who now lives in Switzerland, came to my defense. This is what she wrote me:

I did have time to read your book and I enjoyed it. I think that someone had to finally tell the world about the real Jim Reeves. He was always nice with me, but he wasn't easy to get along with. Of course I only saw him for recording session, and during our tour to Europe in 1964 I only saw him for the concerts. During my free time I was with my singers, and he stayed most of the time around Chet or band members.

I can understand that you got various opinions. What is that old saying? You can't please everybody.

Good luck. I hope that the sales of the book are good.

I am thrilled to announce that, in conjunction with my book, ("Jim Reeves: His Untold Story"), a NEW 2-CD (144 minute) documentary, "JIM REEVES: THE NEW RECORDINGS," has been released, featuring 42 songs by Jim, including 20 NEW overdubs of RCA masters, NEW overdubs of unreleased songs, NEW interviews with Jim you haven't heard before, plus commentary from me.

Narrated by Dan Hurst, (whose mellifluous voice has been heard promoting Disney, ESPN, Hallmark, Ford and Sprint), this new documentary traces the evolution of Jim Reeves from east Texas farm boy to world famous singing star. Like my book, it is a very honest look at this wonderful artist.

New recordings were done in studios ranging from Nashville to Atlanta, from the Carolina mountains to Europe, and feature some of the top musicians, orchestrators, background singers and engineers working today. This keepsake 2-CD set is priced at only $24.95 -- a real bargain! You can order the CDs alone, or as a combo with my book, for a big discount.

Believe me, the music is INCREDIBLE. I'm very proud of this release. There are some fun surprises for you, that showcase the talent and the life of the great "Gentleman Jim." I will be writing more on my blog in the days ahead to tell you about how this project was assembled, and show you some "behind the scenes" photos, so be sure to check visit my blog again soon.
The April issue of Country Music People in the UK has a big review written by the magazine's former editor, Tony Byworth, of my new book, "Jim Reeves: His Untold Story." He does a very thorough job of analyzing the various components of the biography, and it's interesting to read his insights. Columnist David Allan also has some comments about my book.

The same issue of CMP contains a scathing personal attack on me in a letter to the editor from David Bussey, who formerly ran the Jim Reeves Appreciation club back in the early 1970s, but has not been active in fan circles for many years. Although it is not my intention to normally reply to critics, in this case I feel I must, because Mr. Bussey has made several statements about me in public print which are factually wrong and malicious in nature.

I finally heard Dallas Wayne of "Willie's Roadhouse" mention my book, "Jim Reeves: His Untold Story" today on XM/Sirius satellite radio, channel 56. Friends and fans have been telling me that he's been talking about it as he's been reading it. I sure appreciate the plug. The station plays traditional country music like Jim and his contemporaries. It also keeps track of current performers and their bookings. I think half of Texas listens to this channel and the rest soon will! It's an incredibly popular channel. I love XM Satellite radio and have it in my car, but I missed hearing Dallas Wayne of "Willie's Roadhouse" talk about my book today on the radio. A fan, David Mills, sent me an email to alert me. It looks like Judy Ford's efforts have paid off! As those of you who read my book know, Judy had a close personal relationship with Jim Reeves just before he died. (She was a young rodeo star whom he met and romanced). I tell her story in my big bio on Reeves. Judy is a "salt of the earth" type of woman, who lives on a ranch in Texas and she is a dedicated country music fan and big proponent of "Willie's Roadhouse." She had told me she'd left several messages by phone for them and apparently Dallas bought the eBook. I will be interested in hearing more feedback from him. I appreciate it!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
